Outline

Business Merit Scholarships aim to encourage and assist students commencing undergraduate studies in the Business School at UNSW.

By applying for the Business Merit Scholarships you may be considered for the following scholarships, depending on eligibility requirements. More scholarships may be added to this list progressively.

Please read the application method, selection and eligibility criteria carefully.


Application Required

You will need to submit an application to be considered for the following scholarships:

Scholarship Value and Duration Eligibility
Stephen Parbery Scholarship (UGCE1351)

$5,000 for the minimum duration of program


  • Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident (including Humanitarian Visa holders) or New Zealand Citizen

  • Be commencing in any UNSW undergraduate coursework degree program (single/double degree) offered by the UNSW Business School

  • Must have lived in a rural or remote area within the two years prior to the start of your UNSW studies*
Kosmos Asset Management Academic Achievement Scholarship in Economics (UGCA1383)

$8,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program


  • Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen

  • Must be commencing in the Bachelor of Economics (single/double degree - excluding combined Law) offered by the UNSW Business School

*Check the Australian Standard Geographic Classification Remoteness Areas (ASGC-RA) system map to check your eligibility. All categories other than 'RA1 - Major Cities of Australia' are considered to be regional or remote with the exception of Hobart.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:
  • Academic Merit
  • Leadership skills (school, workplace or community)
  • Extra-curricular activities (sporting, cultural activities, volunteer/work experience)
  • Aptitude and commitment to studies in business

You must provide evidence supporting the above criteria in your online application. Please refer to the Scholarship Application Supporting Documents for a detailed list of examples.

Unanswered application questions or claims without supporting documentation will not be assessed. Late applications/supporting documentation will not be accepted. Activities/Achievements recorded more than 3 years ago will not be considered in your application assessment

Scholarship Value and Duration Eligibility
John Niland Scholarship In Business (UGCA1439)

$7,000 for one year


  • Have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period; and achieved an ATAR minimum of 95 or above

  • Must have attended a country high school in Australia.

  • Must have lived in a rural or remote area within the two years prior to the start of your UNSW studies*.

  • Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (including Humanitarian Visa Holders)

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study in any undergraduate Business program (single or double)

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic Merit
