Outline
The purpose of the Award is to support students to undertake research aimed at improving the healthcare of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) patients, especially those with a Chinese background. Such research may include, but is not limited to: access to healthcare, cultural competence, health literacy or health communication, cultural barriers in mental health and chronic health management, health policy and cultural barriers to technology and telehealth.
Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical Studies-Doctor of Medicine (BMed/MD) at UNSW.
  • Be undertaking an Independent Learning Project (ILP) or Honours year; and
  • Be undertaking research aimed at improving the healthcare of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) patients.

Selection

Each applicant will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate:

  • Academic merit
  • Aptitude and commitment to studies in an area of Linguistically Diverse patients

Unanswered application questions or claims without supporting documentation will not be assessed. Late applications/supporting documentation will not be accepted. Activities and achievements recorded more than 3 year ago will not be considered in your application assessment.

UNSW reserves the right not to award a scholarship, where there is no applicant of sufficient merit, or if the applicant does not meet the scholarship eligibility and/or selection criteria.
